NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (ICB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve McManus as Interim Chief Executive Officer.

Steve, currently Chief Executive at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust (RBFT), is joining the ICB following the recent secondment of Dr James Kent into a strategy advisory role at NHS England. Steve has been a partner member of the ICB Board since its establishment on 1 July 2022 and Chief Executive at RBFT for five years.  

ICB chair Javed Khan said: "I very much look forward to working with Steve. His extensive experience will be invaluable as we develop the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care System to realise its full potential for the benefit of our diverse population.”

Steve said: "I look forward to this new role and working across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West as we develop our collaborative working. I have seen what we can achieve when we work together as a system; this was demonstrated very clearly in our collective response to the pandemic and successful vaccination programme.”

Steve was previously Chief Operating Officer at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. In 2012 he took up a post as Chief Operating Officer at Imperial College Healthcare and was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in 2014. 

During 2016 Steve moved from Imperial to take up the position of Managing Director at Basildon and Thurrock University Teaching Hospital FT before taking up the CEO role at RBFT in January 2017. In August 2020 he was seconded for eight months to work in the Government’s Test and Trace senior team.
