Local NHS teams have now given more than five million COVID-19 jabs since the beginning of the vaccination programme in December 2020.

The landmark figure was reached on 11 October and covers the 5,004,202 vaccines delivered across the NHS Integrated Care System in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West (BOB).

Contributing to this fantastic achievement are volunteers at vaccination centres, community groups, local councils, and many other partner organisations which have supported the vaccination rollout since 2020.

The vaccination effort has seen large scale vaccination centres and pop-up vaccine clinics in mosques and churches, at sports centres and libraries, and in schools and colleges across our health area.

BOB ICB also used the Health On The Move vaccination van to deliver appointment free vaccines in areas where people found it more difficult to access a vaccine.

Rachael Corser, Chief Nursing Officer at BOB Integrated Care Board said: “Reaching five million vaccines is a fantastic milestone and a testament to the collective efforts of all partners across the BOB area.

“It is a great example of what can be achieved through collaborative working across our health and care services with the amazing support of our staff, communities and volunteers.

“Our current goal is to vaccinate those most at risk this winter against flu and COVID-19 - so when you are invited for your seasonal vaccines, please book as soon as you can. The more people vaccinated the better all our defences.”
