The offer to get a COVID-19 spring booster vaccination will end this week after which time it will only be offered to people at increased risk.

People who are eligible for the booster have until Friday 30 June to their jabs. This includes those aged 75 and over, children aged five and over with weakened immune systems and older adult care home residents.

In the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) area, nearly 150,000 people will have taken up the offer of a spring booster by the end of the campaign this week – more than seven out of 10 eligible people.

Friday 30 June also marks the last chance for people to get their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination if they have not had any jabs at all.

Alicia Siraj, Head of Health Promotion, Ill Health Prevention, and Personalised Care for BOB Integrated Care Board said: “With the NHS’s vaccination campaign winding down for spring, now is the last chance for those eligible to come forward for a booster, or get a first or second dose, as we move to a targeted, seasonal campaign.

“You can either book online or via the NHS App. Plus a couple of local clinics which you can get details of via our Stay Well site here: staywell bob.nhs.uk

Anyone who believes they are eligible for a vaccine but has not been invited can check online. Or, they can self-declare via the NHS National Booking Service and then speak to a clinician on site.

After 30 June, the NHS offer will become more targeted at people at increased risk and most will have to wait until a future seasonal campaign. For people who develop a new health condition or start treatment that severely weakens their immune system, an exception can be made if a clinician advises them to get vaccinated sooner.
